Connecting Electrum Desktop to myNode through Tor

On your desktop you should have an Electrum icon. If not, create one:

1. Use the Start button to navigate to the electrum folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electrum

   

2. Right click on electrum-[version].exe and select Create shortcut

   

3. Click Yes in response to the prompt: Windows can't create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?

Configure the Shortcut to Launch Electrum Linked to myNode

• Create a copy of the shortcut by copying it and pasting it back onto the desktop.

• Right-click on either shortcut and select Properties
  

• Select the Shortcut tab and click in the text-field labeled Target
  

  • The text-field should already contain a value (probably in quotes) that ends with electrum-[version].exe
  • Do not delete the existing contents of the field

• Append a space and the following to the end of the existing contents:
  -1 -s [mynode-onion-url]:50002:s -p socks5:localhost:9150

  • The Target field should now look similar to:

    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Electrum\electrum-4.0.2.exe” -1 -s kvrj7p77kyxgsw6mvqduvt74eckvrj7p77kyxgsw6mvqduvt74ec.onion:50002:s -p socks5:localhost:9150
    

• Select the General tab and click in the box towards the top, next to the icon
  

• Change the contents of the text-field to rename the shortcut to something that would indicate to you that this shortcut launches a version of Electrum Wallet that is linked to your myNode, perhaps Electrum Wallet - myNode

• Click Apply and Ok

  • Now, when you launch Electrum using this shortcut, Electrum will connect to your myNode through Tor.

• Confirm this is the case:

  • Double-click on the shortcut just created
  • The circular connectivity icon in the lower-right of the Electrum windows should be either blue or green. It should not be red, as this indicates a connection failure.
